R&D partnerships

Build a joint R&D project with us

We are looking for partners for joint grant proposals and research projects in digital twins and bioprocess modelling — universities, research institutes, biotech companies, CDMOs and equipment makers.

What we bring

A working digital twin

MODICA ADT (Adaptive Digital Twin), tested on physical modular bioreactors, with simulation, replay and fault-aware reconfiguration.

Modelling know-how

Mechanistic, statistical, ML and hybrid bioprocess models, built through a staged framework aligned with GMP expectations.

A lab to validate in

Modular bioreactors in our Warsaw lab, where models are tested against real equipment, including injected faults.

EU project experience

We are carrying out an R&D project co-financed by the EU under the FENG programme, with a total value of PLN 9,120,743.55.

Who we partner with

Universities & institutes

Joint research on hybrid modelling, transfer learning across scales, uncertainty quantification and soft sensors; co-authored publications.

Biotech companies & CDMOs

Demonstration sites and end users: real processes and data to validate the twin on, with results you can use.

Equipment & automation makers

Integration of bioreactors, sensors and control systems with the digital twin.

Topics we work on

  • Digital twins of bioprocesses
  • Hybrid and mechanistic bioprocess models
  • Fault-tolerant, adaptive bioprocessing
  • Modular and near-continuous operation
  • Model validation and data integrity for GMP use
  • Scale-up and tech transfer

How to start

  1. 01

    Send the call

The programme or call, the deadline, the topic and the role you see for Modica.

  2. 02

    Short call

We check the fit and the partner mix within a week.

  3. 03

    Joint proposal

We contribute our work packages, budget and letters of support.

The earlier the better: 6–8 weeks before a deadline gives a proposal time to be good.
